In a major breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, police seized approximately 52 kilograms of cannabis concealed inside a Bolero vehicle during routine checking. The recovered contraband is estimated to be worth around Rs 10 lakh on the illegal market.
Police sources reported that the Bolero was stopped during a standard vehicle inspection when officers noticed suspicious activity. A detailed search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a hidden compartment packed with cannabis. The driver and another occupant were immediately detained at the spot.
During preliminary interrogation, the detained individuals reportedly revealed that the consignment was being transported from the Sidhai Mohanpur area. Authorities suspect that the duo may be part of a larger smuggling network. Both the seized vehicle and the cannabis have been taken into police custody for further examination.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rohan Krishan confirmed that preparations are underway to file a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He stated that the investigation is ongoing and that efforts are being made to identify and apprehend any additional suspects involved in the trafficking operation.
As soon as the incident was reported, senior officials—including the Teliamura SDPO, the DCM, and other administrative authorities—rushed to the scene to assess the situation firsthand and supervise the ongoing procedure.
The significant seizure marks another strong step by law enforcement in curbing narcotics movement through the region, and officials expect more developments as the investigation progresses.
