Agartala, May 15:
In a significant achievement for Tripura’s rural skill development initiatives, 50 youths trained under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) have successfully completed a three-month residential Electrician training programme under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) and secured employment opportunities in Bengaluru.

According to officials, all 50 trained candidates have received placement offers from Motherson Sumi Systems Limited, a leading multinational automotive component manufacturing company headquartered in Bengaluru. The selected candidates will receive a monthly salary package of Rs 21,680 along with food and accommodation facilities provided by the company.

Officials described the development as a major milestone in TRLM’s ongoing efforts to empower rural youth through skill-based training linked directly with employment opportunities. The programme aims to equip unemployed and underprivileged youths from rural areas with industry-relevant technical skills, enabling them to secure sustainable livelihoods.

The three-month residential training programme focused on electrician trade skills and practical industrial exposure to prepare candidates for professional work environments. Officials said the successful placement of all participants reflects the growing effectiveness of the DDU-GKY programme in enhancing employability among rural youths in Tripura.

The candidates are now preparing to relocate to Bengaluru to begin their professional careers. TRLM officials congratulated the selected youths and expressed hope that their success would inspire more young people from rural areas to participate in skill development programmes and pursue employment opportunities beyond the state.

Officials further stated that such initiatives not only improve the economic condition of individual families but also contribute to the overall socio-economic development of rural communities. By connecting training with assured placement, the mission is helping reduce unemployment and creating pathways for long-term financial independence among rural youths.

The Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, implemented under the Ministry of Rural Development, focuses on skill training and placement for rural poor youths across the country. In Tripura, the scheme has increasingly gained momentum through partnerships with industries and training agencies.

The latest achievement has been viewed as another success story for TRLM and DDU-GKY, highlighting the growing role of structured skill development programmes in creating employment opportunities and strengthening the workforce participation of Tripura’s rural youth.
