Agartala: Dec 09: Kalamchoura police have successfully arrested two drug peddlers and seized a significant quantity of Yaba tablets in a late-night operation on Monday. Acting on confidential information, the police set up a vehicle checkpoint at Veluar Char, where they received intelligence that two drug peddlers were heading towards Boxnagar with a large consignment of drugs. The police laid an ambush at the location and waited for the suspects to arrive.

Upon reaching the Veluar Char checkpoint, the two individuals were apprehended by the police. A search of the arrested men led to the discovery of 37,800 Yaba tablets, with an estimated market value of approximately ₹80 lakh. The arrested individuals were identified as Rafikul Islam from Boxnagar and Kabir Hossain from Manikyanagar.

During interrogation, the police learned that the owner of the seized Yaba tablets was Mahabul Alam, a resident of Boxnagar. Following the arrest, the two drug peddlers were produced in court on Monday. The police have initiated further investigations to track down Mahabul Alam and dismantle the drug network involved.

The successful operation has been praised by local authorities for its effectiveness in curbing drug trafficking in the area. The OC of Kalamchoura police station, Nardu Gopal Dev, confirmed the arrests and reiterated the police’s commitment to combating the illegal drug trade in the region.
