Agartala, June 29: Police of Ambassa police station has achieved great success in creating a drug-free Tripura. Dhalai District Superintendent of Police Abhinash Roy has said that 3 kg 415 grams of heroin has been recovered by searching a car based on information from secret sources. Two youths have also been arrested. He said that the market value of seized heroin is approximately Rs 13 crore and 80 lakh.
Dhalai District Superintendent of Police Abhinash Roy said that information came from the intelligence sources at Ambassa police station on Thursday morning that a large quantity of drugs would be smuggled from Mizoram to Sepahijala district by vehicle number TR01BU0234. Based on that information, the police seized the vehicle from Naka Point in Betbagan area of Ambassa this morning. After searching the car, the police were able to seize a total of 3 kg 415 grams of heroin in 300 packets, he said. Two youths have also been arrested.
He also said that the two arrested youths are Piklu Bhowmik and Mahabul Alam, residents of Buxnagar. He said that the market value of seized heroin will be approximately 13 crore 80 lakh rupees. Dhalai District Superintendent of Police said that the police have started investigation by taking a case against them under NDPS section.
