Agartala: Aug 08: Due to heavy rain120 families are housebound in Kalachara block. As per the report, due to dilapidated roads which are lying the same condition for last twenty five years villagers are unable to go out from their houses. Finally, the village residents blocked the road by burning tires on the Kadamtala-Dharmannagar main road demanding road repair immediately. When the police along with the village pradhan and other authorities  reached the spot, the villagers disclosed strong anger to them. Finally after an hour and a half of the blockade, the blockade was lifted with the assurance of the police and village panchayat officials. The incident took place in Ichai Jaipur area of Ward No.3 of Patekrai Gram Panchayat under Kalachara Block of North Tripura. It is known that about 120 families live in Ichai Jaipur area. Moreover, about one and a half thousand people from several other villages travel daily through the narrow brick road of this village. But since this rural road has not been renovated for almost twenty five years, traffic on this road is stopped during the monsoon season. Therefore, even though the road was blocked several times in the past to demand road reform, nothing was done. Meanwhile, the people of the village were confined to their homes due to the continuous rains of the current monsoon season. Therefore, the Bikhondha villagers blocked the road by burning tires on the Kadamtala-Dharmanagar road in Ichai Jaipur area from ten o’clock on Tuesday morning to demand the repair of the road. Patekarai Village Panchayat pradhan  Sudhanshu Debnath alongwith village leader  Rabindra Chandra Das including police of the local police station interacted with the locals angry villagers. Then the police and the local leaders of the village were enraged by the protesting villagers. Finally, after talking for one and a half hours, the road blockers were assured that within two months, new work will be done on this road. Moreover, bricks and rubble will be thrown on this road now for the present movement of the villagers, they assured the local people. Later on after getting assurance from the authority the blockade has been removed.
