Agartala: Nov 01:   A devastating fire broke out in the wholesale market on Mahesh Smriti Road in Dharmanagar where 10 shops were burnt to ashes. A total of ten shops were gutted in a sudden fire on Mahesh Smriti Road in Dharmanagar town at approximately eleven forty-five minutes on Tuesday. Four fire engines from Dharmanagar and Kadamtala and Panisagar rushed to the spot. Although the intensity of the fire was high, the fire was brought under control after about two hours with the help of four fire engines and the people present. After receiving the news of the incident, District Magistrate and Collector Debapriya Vardhan, District Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty, District Administrator Vivek HB rushed to the spot. Even if the fire is brought under control, the amount of damage is estimated to exceed 20 lakh  rupees. The District Magistrate and Collector said that after talking to the victims of the fire, the extent of the damage will be determined and the assistance will be extended by the government. However, the main source of the fire is still not clear. Among those whose godowns were gutted in the fire were Kajal Das, Liton Roy, Ajit Nath, Mintu Dev, Adhir Nath, Sanju Das and several traders in the market. The police of Dharmanagar police station is looking at the matter of electrical short circuit or vandalism.
