Agartala: Feb 10: Workers are installing electric lines at a height of about 30 feet without any safety equipment in the Harinatila area, along the road from Sabroom to Manughat. The workers, who are neither wearing safety belts nor helmets, are performing the task under the supervision of a contracting company’s representative.

In recent years, several tragic incidents have occurred in Sabroom involving workers losing their lives while working on electric lines. Despite these incidents, safety measures seem to have not been enforced. When questioned about the lack of safety equipment, the supervisor stated that the workers hurriedly climbed the electric poles without wearing the necessary safety gear, which he mentioned was in their vehicle. He further added that it is not his responsibility to ensure who wears the safety equipment.

This situation raises serious concerns about worker safety, and it remains to be seen what action the labor department will take in response to this issue.
