Agartala: May 05: A violent confrontation broke out on Monday between workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its coalition partner, Tipra Motha, in front of the Takargaon police station. Several individuals sustained injuries, and multiple vehicles, including a cargo Bolero and scooters, were vandalized.
The clash led to heightened tensions in the area, with BJP’s campaign decorations reportedly damaged during the unrest. As the situation escalated, local police struggled to contain the violence, prompting the deployment of additional security forces. A large contingent of CRPF personnel was stationed in the area to restore order.
Following the incident, both parties filed complaints against each other at the Takargaon police station. The altercation has reignited discussions about the dynamics within the ruling coalition, with concerns raised over previous incidents involving Tipra Motha supporters, including disruptions to emergency services and student movements.
Observers note that BJP’s presence in Tripura’s tribal regions remains relatively limited, which may have influenced its decision to form an alliance with Tipra Motha. However, questions persist regarding the long-term stability of the coalition and its impact on regional politics.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as tensions remain high in the area.
