Agartala, Tripura – Sept 03: A controversy erupted in the assembly session today over Minister Sudhanshu Das’ statement on Hindus on social media, leading to an uproar and protests from the opposition.
The opposition tried to corner the Treasury bench, including the ministers, demanding an apology from Sudhanshu Das for his statement. However, the Transport Minister clarified that the statement was not supported by the BJP or the state government.
Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath and other BJP MLAs came out in support of Sudhanshu Das, claiming that the CPM wanted riots in the state and that the statement was not meant to hurt any community.
The opposition protested and demanded action against the minister for hate speech, claiming that if an ordinary citizen made such a statement, action would have been taken.
Finally, Minister Sudhanshu Das defended himself, quoting Gita verses and Mahatma Gandhi, and targeted Congress and CPM as anti-Hindu, claiming they support terrorists. The opposition turned red and started shouting, leading to a ruckus in the assembly session.
