Agartala: Sept 15: Two more individuals have been arrested in connection with the Badal Shil murder case early Sunday morning, based on secret information. The police have announced that the arrested individuals will be produced in court on Monday. With these latest arrests, the police have now apprehended three suspects in the case. Amal Das, the first person arrested, is currently in judicial custody.

CPI(M) leader and candidate for ward number 4 of South Tripura Zilla Parishad, Badal Shil, was attacked by miscreants on the evening of July 12 while visiting Chottakhala market with his family. He succumbed to his injuries on July 13 while receiving treatment at GB Hospital.

Following the incident, Badal Shil’s family filed a case at the PR Bari police station, naming six individuals involved in the murder. Initially, the police arrested Amal Das and appeared to have closed the case. However, continuous deputations from the CPI(M), Badal Shil’s family, and the general public pressured the police to arrest the remaining suspects. Nearly two months after the murder, the police from PR Bari station arrested two more suspects, Pradeep Nama and Pinku Poddar, early Sunday morning.

According to the police, Pradeep Nama was arrested in Sonamura and Pinku Poddar in Melghar. The investigation is ongoing to apprehend the other suspects. Local residents claim that all the accused in the Badal Shil murder case are in Chottakhala and can be easily arrested if the police take action. They demand that both the perpetrators and the masterminds behind the murder be arrested promptly to demonstrate good governance in the state.
