Two Bangladeshi Citizens Arrested in Chatlang Area

Agartala: Sept 20: Two Bangladeshi citizens, Mohammad Shahid and Aklima Begum, were arrested in the Chatlang area under Kailashahar Irani police station. They were sent to Kailashahar court on Friday afternoon.

Late Thursday night, the two individuals crossed the India-Bangladesh international border illegally and were apprehended by the Border Security Force (BSF). The BSF handed them over to the Irani police station on Friday, as per legal procedures. The arrested individuals are from Tongi and Manikganj areas of Dhaka.

The 97th Battalion of the BSF arrested them, and during interrogation, the police learned that they had entered India illegally with the intention of finding employment in Chennai. They were reportedly assisted by brokers in Bangladesh. The Irani police station has filed a case against them under five sections of the Indian Penal Code. After completing the legal process, they were handed over to the Kailashahar court on Friday afternoon.
