Agartala, Oct 17:
In a groundbreaking moment for Tripura’s entertainment industry, a human has portrayed Maa Tripureshwari on screen for the first time using prosthetic make-up in a pre-Diwali music video. The divine goddess, worshipped for over five centuries at the Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur, one of the 51 Shakti Peeths, was brought to life by actor Namita Debnath.
The six-minute devotional video has struck a chord with thousands of devotees, offering a unique depiction of the Mother Goddess interacting with her devotee, played by popular social media creator and influencer Anirban Bhowmik of Udaipur.
The narrative follows a poor but devoted young man who selflessly helps others despite facing hardships and ridicule. His unwavering faith eventually earns him a divine vision of Maa Tripureshwari, who consoles him, assuring her eternal protection and blessings. The final moments of the video—when the goddess appears in her radiant form—have left viewers deeply moved.
The prosthetic transformation of Namita Debnath was meticulously designed to mirror the deity’s sacred image. “We included behind-the-scenes clips at the end so people understand it was achieved through real prosthetic artistry, not VFX or AI,” said Anirban Bhowmik, who also directed and produced the project. The team performed rituals before applying the prosthetics to maintain the sanctity of the process.
Matabari MLA Abhisek Debroy made a brief cameo appearance. The video’s music was composed and sung by Kishan Das, with lyrics by Saikat Sarkar and sound mixing by Tapas Dhar. Cinematography, editing, and VFX were handled by Adarsh Ray, while Glamour World, led by Mitadru Sengupta, managed the makeup.
The video’s release coincides with the three-day annual Tripureshwari Temple festival, scheduled from October 19 to 21, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent inauguration of the temple’s new infrastructure on September 22.
