Agartala: Jan 09: The Tripura Railway Hawkers Workers Association, authorized by the Labor Monitoring Cell, submitted a deputation to the RPF Commissioner today, addressing various issues faced by railway hawkers.
One hawker explained that they earn their livelihood by hawking at railway stations and on trains, making about 400 rupees daily. They enter platforms and board trains without tickets to hawk. Previously, one or two general crime cases were filed against them every six to seven months, resulting in small fines. However, recently, multiple serious cases, including theft of railway property, are being filed against them almost daily.
The hawker further stated that the deputation was submitted to request that the issue be resolved through discussions, allowing poor hawkers to continue earning money by hawking.
