Agartala, July 10: Tripura Pradesh Mahila Congress held a 4-hour sit-in program in Orient Chowmuni area of Agartala on Monday to demand strict action against drug abuse and against women abuse. They demanded that effective measures should be taken for the safety of women and legal action should be taken against drug dealers.

On this day, Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha said that he has failed in the call made by the Chief Minister to create a drug-free Tripura. Because, starting from the youth of Tripura, a section of the people of the state are getting addicted to drugs day by day. He complained that Tripura is turning into a drug state. Drug peddlers are thriving under the shelter of the ruling party. The Congress president has warned that if necessary measures are not taken for the safety of women, a larger movement will be made by the Congress party in the coming days.

 

He further alleged that the oppression of women is increasing in Tripura. Women suffer from insecurity. According to him, the women have been oppressed and approached the police, but the police have failed to provide them with security.

 

MLA Sudip Roy Barman complained that there is no law and order in Tripura. The officials of the ruling party are continuing the business of intoxication. According to him, day by day Tripura is turning into a drug paradise during the rule of the BJP government.
