Agartala: June 18: During a recent meeting at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan, Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha raised concerns over the political climate surrounding the upcoming panchayat elections in Tripura. He cited the previous panchayat elections where a significant majority of BJP candidates won unopposed, attributing this outcome to an atmosphere of intimidation that hindered opposition candidates from filing nominations.

In his address to the media, Mr. Saha suggested that to ensure a fair and free election, nominations should be submitted online and para-military forces should be deployed at polling stations. He affirmed that the Pradesh Congress is prepared to contest in the panchayat elections and mentioned that any decisions regarding seat sharing with the Left Front would be disclosed following the meeting.
