Agartala: Nov – The Panchayat Department of the State Government inaugurated this year’s People’s Plan Campaign on November 21st at the Gram Swaraj Bhavan, marking a significant milestone in grassroots democratic planning.
Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha presided over the ceremony, joined by top state officials including Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipatis, Panchayat Department Secretary Dr. Sandeep R. Rathod, and Panchayats Director Shri Prasun De.
During the event, Dr. Rathod emphasized the critical role of Gram Sabha, Mahila Sabha, and Shishu Sabha in local development, urging comprehensive participation from public representatives and government employees.
A highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of outstanding performers. The Chief Minister awarded districts, blocks, and Panchayats in categories including Panchayat Development Index, E-Office Implementation, and Smart Panchayat Office.
In a landmark announcement, the Panchayat Raj Training Center at Arundhutinagar was officially designated as the State Panchayat Resource Center, signaling a strategic investment in local governance infrastructure.
Four significant books were unveiled during the event, though specific details were not provided in the press release. These publications are expected to provide insights into Panchayat development strategies and best practices.
Chief Minister Saha called for accelerated rural development efforts aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), positioning Tripura’s Panchayat system as a potential national model.
Approximately 750 public representatives and government employees attended the event, which concluded with a presentation by Panchayats Director Shri Prasun De on developing comprehensive Panchayat Development Plans.
