Agartala: Dec 13: The state’s once ailing tea industry has been revitalized under the current government. The Tripura government has set a target to enrich the state financially through the development of this industry in the coming days. This was stated by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Santwana Chakma, at a tea buyer-seller meet held at a hotel in Agartala today.
She said that the tea industry in Tripura had been neglected for a long time. This is the first time a tea buyer-seller meet has been organized by the Tea Development Corporation. She said that the Tripura government is thinking about taking the tea industry forward. But to achieve this goal, the state government needs the help of investors as well.
She further stated that the state’s once ailing tea industry has been given a new direction under the current government. Efforts will be made to enrich the state financially through the development of this industry in the coming days. For this, the full cooperation of all stakeholders is required.
Present at today’s event were Samir Ghosh, Chairman of the Tripura Tea Development Corporation, Managing Director Manik Lal Das, and representatives from the Indian Tea Association and Indian Auction Association, who are associated with the tea industry in the country.
