Agartala: Apr 06: At a recent election rally in Anandnagar Maidan, Biplab Kumar Deb, the BJP candidate for the West Tripura Lok Sabha seat, claimed that the BJP government in Tripura has successfully prevented any political murders since its rise to power. This statement stands in contrast to the previous rule of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), during which, Deb alleges, many Congress workers were killed.

Deb urged the public to vote for Narendra Modi in the upcoming Lok Sabha election, framing it as a pivotal moment for building a strong state. He criticized the Congress party for what he perceives as their contradictory stance in Tripura and Kerala, where they are in conflict with the Communists, who have announced a candidate against Rahul Gandhi.

Highlighting the displacement and deaths of Congress workers under CPM rule, Deb contrasted this with the BJP’s efforts towards women’s empowerment. He praised Prime Minister Modi’s initiatives to make women self-reliant and noted the significant representation of women in the BJP as corporators, parliamentarians, and legislators.

In a surprising turn of events, Manik Sarkar, the four-time Chief Minister of Tripura and a member of the Politburo, was notably absent from the nomination procession of the India Bloc candidate for the West Tripura Lok Sabha seat. Deb suggested that Sarkar’s absence was due to his disapproval of what he termed an ‘illegal alliance.’

Deb also commented on the ideological shift of some Communist supporters, questioning how lifelong voters of the hammer and sickle symbol could now align with the hand symbol of the Congress party, hinting at the complexities of political alliances in the region.
