Khowai, July 9: Director General of Tripura Police, Anurag, conducted a comprehensive review of the security and policing setup in Khowai district on Tuesday. During his visit, he also toured the headquarters of two Tripura State Rifles (TSR) battalions stationed in the district and interacted with the personnel.

Speaking to the media, DGP Anurag commended the efforts of the state police in maintaining law and order. “The entire police administration across Tripura is doing commendable work, and Khowai district police have also performed well in curbing crime and ensuring public safety,” he said.

Highlighting improvements in road safety, the DGP reported a significant 30% reduction in fatalities caused by road traffic accidents (RTAs). “Until June last year, 126 deaths were recorded due to RTAs. This year, the number has come down to 88. Road safety remains one of our top priorities,” he stated.

On the anti-narcotics front, Anurag shared notable progress. “In 2023, we seized approximately 18.6 lakh tablets valued at ₹18 crore. This year, we’ve already seized 18 lakh tablets, with the total value touching ₹20 crore—marking a 10–12% increase compared to last year,” he added.

When asked about the ongoing ‘Nasha Mukta Tripura’ initiative, the DGP reaffirmed the police department’s commitment to the campaign. “The Chief Minister has given a clear directive to eliminate drug abuse in the state, and every police unit is working tirelessly toward this goal,” he said.

The visit and review underscore Tripura Police’s focused efforts on crime prevention, traffic regulation, and drug control as part of the state’s broader mission for a safer and drug-free society.
