On December 25, auto-rickshaw drivers in GB Bazar protested against the alleged illegal issuance of permits in the Agartala Municipal Corporation area. They claimed that auto-rickshaw drivers from the Panchayat area between GB and Banikya Chowmuhani had been providing passenger services in the Agartala Municipal Corporation. Upon contacting the Transport Department, it was confirmed that permits were being issued in the Agartala Municipal Corporation area. In response, the drivers went on a one-day strike. Following the publication of this news, the Transport Department took strict action against the illegal permits.

Liton Modak stated that new auto permits had been illegally issued by the Transport Department for the route from GB to Banikya Chowmuhani Road. Battery-operated auto-rickshaw drivers joined the protest. After the news was broadcast, the Transport Department contacted the auto-rickshaw drivers and resolved the issue. The department informed them that the new permits would be canceled, as no permits are being issued in the Agartala Municipal Corporation area. The drivers have expressed their gratitude for this strict action.
