Agartala: June 17: This morning, the Kanchenjunga Express, which was en route from Agartala to Sealdah, was involved in an accident shortly after departing from New Jalpaiguri station and as it was nearing Rangapani station. A collision occurred when a goods train struck the passenger train from behind, resulting in significant damage to the luggage van and four other compartments.
Tragically, there have been reports of fatalities, although the exact number of deceased has not been confirmed. Additionally, numerous passengers sustained injuries and were promptly transported to North Bengal Medical College for treatment.
The incident occurred at approximately 9 am, about 985 kilometers from Agartala. Authorities are currently investigating the accident, and further details are expected as the situation develops.
