Ramakanta Mitra, a professional driver, had been working in Mizoram for an extended period. However, his mental state had been deteriorating, and his co-drivers decided to bring him back home to Chhataitel village.

Yesterday morning, Ramakanta’s elder brother, Swapon Mitra, and their mother attempted to take him to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, Ramakanta resisted their efforts. Desperate to help him, family members tried to confine him to a room, but he managed to escape.

Tragically, Ramakanta fled to a neighbor’s house, where he inflicted a fatal wound upon himself. Swapon Mitra, who witnessed the horrifying scene, immediately sought medical assistance. Ramakanta was rushed to the district hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Local authorities, including the Kailashahar police, are now investigating the circumstances surrounding Ramakanta’s suicide. The body remains at the district hospital pending a post-mortem examination.

Ramakanta Mitra’s family, devastated by the loss, will receive the body once the necessary procedures are completed. Swapon Mitra, grieving the loss of his younger brother, remains in shock over the tragic turn of events.
