Agartala: Sept 23: Pradyot Kishore Deb Barma, the former leader of Tipra Motha, has strongly condemned the ongoing attacks on minority communities in Bangladesh, including the Chakma and Hindu populations. He’s calling for the Indian government to take a firm stance at the international level and expose Bangladesh’s actions at the United Nations ¹. Pradyot Kishore Deb Barma expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation in Bangladesh, where minority communities are facing targeted violence and displacement.

Pradyot Kishore Deb Barma emphasized that such incidents cannot be tolerated, especially considering Tripura’s own history with violence and displacement. In fact, Tripura has experienced ethnic strife between the indigenous Tripuri people and Bengali immigrants, which led to scattered violence and insurgency in the past ¹.

Pradyot Kishore Deb Barma also highlighted the need for concrete action to address the issues faced by indigenous people in Tripura. A joint committee was formed as part of a tripartite agreement between the central government, state government, and Tipra Motha, but Pradyot Kishore Deb Barma expressed disappointment with the lack of progress.
