Agartala, Feb 26: Amidst mounting pressure from ruling and opposition parties, Tipra Matha, the regional political entity, grapples with indecision. However, party supremo Pradyot Kishore Deb Barman has taken a resolute stance. In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, he is set to hit the streets once more, demanding the constitutional rights of the people. His chosen method: a fast unto death, commencing on February 28.

Recently, Pradyot traveled to Delhi following a call from the central authorities. His meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Saha failed to yield a conclusive decision, as reported by party sources. Returning to Agartala from Delhi, Pradyot stood at the MBB airport, urging the Center to provide a written commitment regarding constitutional rights. He openly questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurances. A year ago, promises were made that ADC (Autonomous District Council) funds would directly benefit the people and enhance educational opportunities within the ADC.

However, these pledges remain unfulfilled. Pradyot expressed skepticism toward the central government’s verbal assurances, emphasizing the need for tangible action. He lamented the opacity of central leaders’ intentions. His focus remains unwavering: securing rights for the nation, devoid of political maneuvering. As he embarks on his hunger strike, Pradyot reflects on the consequences of inaction. “If I cannot deliver for the people,” he declared, “what purpose does my existence serve?”

Joining him on this pivotal day were MLA Brishketu Debbarma and other supporters, united in their pursuit of constitutional justice. He appeal all Tiprasa to join his agitation and going to meet Minister Shukla Charan Notia, and welcome the views of Minister Bikash Debbarma and MDC Bidyut Debbarma
