Agartala: Oct 23: A three-day biennial conference of NCC Group Commanders from the North East region commenced today in Agartala. The Governor of the state, Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, inaugurated the conference at the 21 Sector Assam Rifles Auditorium in Agartala.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor emphasized the significance of such conferences in strengthening the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in the North East. He commended the NCC authorities for organizing the conference in Agartala and assured full support from the state government for any infrastructural requirements of the NCC in the state.
The Governor expressed the urgent need to strengthen the NCC in the North Eastern states. He highlighted that joining the NCC not only provides opportunities for defense-related courses but also contributes to overall personal development, including education, employment prospects, and self-confidence. NCC cadets, he remarked, are often ahead of their peers.
Expressing satisfaction with the NCC cadets’ involvement in various social welfare activities, the Governor urged them to actively combat social issues like addiction and child marriage. He also assured that the state government is committed to providing all necessary facilities for organizing NCC camps in the state.
The Governor further highlighted the crucial role played by NCC youth cadets in nation-building and emphasized the importance of encouraging them to progress rapidly in life.
Major General Gagan Dwip, Additional Director General of NCC in charge of the North East, also addressed the gathering. He appreciated the work of Tripura NCC cadets and interacted with them. He expressed hope that through their involvement in NCC activities, every cadet would be able to mold themselves into ideal citizens.
The conference was attended by commanders from all NCC units operating in the North Eastern states. At the beginning of the program, the Governor received a guard of honor from the NCC cadets and held a meeting with the NCC Group Commanders from the North Eastern states.
It is noteworthy that there are 95 NCC units in 8 districts of the state, with a total of 5300 cadet students, including 2500 female cadets. This biennial Group Commander’s Conference of the NCC’s North East Regional Directorate aims to discuss various NCC activities and inform all concerned about the special initiatives undertaken by cadets from different state NCC units.
