Government lawyer Kishore Majumdar informed reporters that the three leftist leaders, accused of assaulting Judge Ruhidas Pal, have surrendered in Belonia Court. On September 2, 2015, during a strike called by the Left Trade Union, it was alleged that Babul Debnath, Tapas Dutta, and Trilok Sinha, along with others, entered the court and physically assaulted Judge Ruhidas Pal, causing a commotion. The then Belonia Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sudeep Pal filed a suo motu case, numbered 113/15, at Belonia Police Station.

The accused were later released on bail after filing a writ petition in the Supreme Court. As per the Supreme Court’s order, CPI(M) South District Secretary Tapas Dutta, Belonia Divisional CITU President Trilok Sinha, and All India Krishak Sabha Bilonia Divisional Secretary Babul Debnath surrendered in Belonia Court on Saturday afternoon.
