Third National Lok Adalat of the Year to be Held on Saturday

Agartala: Sept 12: The third National Lok Adalat of the year will take place in the state on Saturday, a government holiday. The Lok Adalat will be held across all district and subdivision court complexes, as well as the Tripura High Court. A total of 23,994 cases will be addressed in 51 benches, including 3,920 pre-existing disputes and 20,074 pending cases.

The cases to be taken up include 370 motor accident compensation cases, 3,205 bank loan recovery cases, 17,777 compoundable criminal disputes, 286 matrimonial disputes, 1,601 cheque bounce cases, 11 service-related cases, and 16 civil cases. One bench will be set up in the Tripura High Court, where 31 cases will be addressed. The highest number of benches, 11, will be established at the Agartala court complex.

Notices have already been sent to the involved parties. Since August 6, those who received notices have been utilizing the pre-conciliation or settlement facilities by contacting the respective district and sub-divisional legal services authority offices. Para-legal volunteers will assist attendees at the Lok Adalat.

The Member-Secretary of the Tripura State Legal Services Authority, Jhuma Dutta Chowdhury, urged everyone to take advantage of the speedy and cost-free settlement of cases through a press conference on Thursday.
