On Sunday night, Kumarghat traffic unit in-charge Pankaj Debnath received a tip-off that a luxury Maruti car was to be smuggled from Agartala to Assam. Based on that news, traffic unit in-charge Pankaj Debnath along with other traffic police personnel sat down on the National Highway at Kumarghat 91 mile area. Later in the night, when a car with numberless Pechon and Advocate symbol on front and national flag in front of the car came from Agartala direction, Kumarghat traffic unit staff told the car to stop, the car broke the traffic signal and fled from there. Later, Pankaj Debnath, in-charge of the traffic unit, immediately sent a report to Pecharthal police station to impound the vehicle. Later, the police of Pecharthal police station chased the car and intercepted it in Danchra area, but the ganja smugglers in the car managed to escape. Kumarghat sub-division police officer Kamau Debvarma rushed to the spot after receiving the news Sub-Divisional Police Officer along with OC Suman Acharya of Pecharthal Police Station and Sub Inspector Dulalchandra Bhowmik and other police personnel searched the vehicle and recovered a total of 175 kg of dry ganja in 20 packets. Later, the police took the car to Pecharthal police station In this matter, the police have started investigation by taking a case under NDPS section The recovered ganja was sent to the Unkoti District and Sessions Court on Monday According to police sources, the market value of recovered dry ganja is approximately Tk 27 lakh However, in this journey, the traffickers were loading the ganja by putting the national flag on the front of the car with Advocate sticker and dressing it like a VIP car so that the police would not have any kind of suspicion after seeing the car. Finally, this kind of strategy of ganja smugglers did not work The police seized dry marijuana along with the car
