Agartala September 1: Tipra Matha party has finally clarified its position in the by-elections of Boxanagar and Dhanpur constituencies. Addressing a press conference at the Agartala Press Club on Friday, Opposition leader Animesh Debbarma said that the by-election is not that important for the Tipra Matha party. The mission of the Tipra Matha party is to claim Greater Tipra Land. There is no question of Tipra Matha Dal supporting CPIM candidates from Dhanpur and Boxanagar centres because they are candidates of CPIM party.
The activists and supporters of Tipra Matha Dal from Boxanagar and Dhanpur centers will vote for their preferred candidates. No decision will be imposed by the party on party workers and supporters to vote for a particular party candidate. Tipra Matha Dal was not a main contender in Boxanagar and Dhanpur in the 2023 assembly elections. But many complaints have been made against the Tipra Matha party. Some say red head, others say BJP broker. But this time the fight is between CPIM and BJP. Opposition leader Animesh Debbarma said that not giving a candidate in the Tipra Matha by-election is a worthy response to the allegations raised against the Tipra Matha party. Tipra Matha Party President Vijay Hrankhawl, Tipra Matha MLA Ranjit Debbarma along with other party MLAs and leaders were present in the press conference.
