The High Court gave strict instructions to the Election Commission.

Many people were shot dead in North and South Bengal on the last day of the nomination period for the panchayat polls.
In view of this situation, the Calcutta High Court on Thursday, June 15, ordered the panchayat polls to be conducted by central forces across the state. According to the High Court’s order, central forces should be provided for polling in all districts. The bench of the Chief Justice of the High Court directed that the decision be implemented within the next 48 hours.
