Agartala: Mar 19: Dharmanagar experienced a brief period of tension recently due to the actions of an overzealous sector officer. The incident unfolded three days after the announcement of the Lok Sabha election.

The sector officer in question, Bijit Saha, embarked on a door-to-door campaign, instructing residents to remove all flags—both party flags and religious ones. His actions raised eyebrows and prompted concern among the local community.

MLA Biswajit Sen, upon learning of the situation, promptly visited the scene. Speaking to reporters, Sen criticized the sector officer’s approach, asserting that he was attempting to impose his personal ideology on the populace. Sen emphasized that the officer lacked the authority to enter people’s homes and remove religious flags.

In response, Sen called upon the administration to uphold the rule of law without causing unnecessary tension. He also appealed to the people of Dharmanagar to maintain peace and harmony during this sensitive time.
