Agartala, November 27: Tipra Matha MLA and TUIPC Chairman Ranjit Debbarma is pleased with the various facilities of the surrendered militants. On this day, he discussed the various demands of the surrendered militants in detail at the press conference. He said that on November 22, he met AK Mishra, Adviser of North East India of the Ministry of Home Affairs in Delhi and handed over a memorandum containing various demands of the surrendered militants.
Elaborating on the demands, the MLA said that those who had surrendered to jawans of BSF, CRPF, Assam Rifles at various times, were not later recognized by the police. As a result, about 600 to 700 such people are still deprived of various types of government facilities.
The MLA also alleged that various clauses of the TNV agreement have not yet been fulfilled. For instance, land recovery applications under the Tripura Land Revenue and Land Reforms Act, 1960 were not reviewed, the MLA said. Also Rs 20,000 was supposed to be given for building a house. But it is impossible to build a house with this money, so the MLA demanded that this issue be re-judged. The MLA also alleged that the government has not taken proper measures to provide employment to the unemployed. There was supposed to be a radio station in tribal languages in the tribal areas which has not yet been implemented.
The demand document also mentions that about 300 surrendered militants have demanded construction of buildings with various facilities on Khas land in Agartala. In addition, the construction of model villages for those living in villages has also been demanded.
MLA Ranjit Debbarma said that Adviser AK Mishra accepted the validity of the demands. He also assured to take further steps in this regard.
