They demanded publication of the results immediately as they feared that many of them may soon get overage and no more be illegible to apply for any government job if not recruited now.

Earlier also they agitated on the same issue and they urged the state Chief Minister and Education Minister to take initiative in resolving the issue.

Many of the agitators belonged to very poor families and had completed their education including BEd qualifications after selling their properties or taking educational loans and are now under pressure.

It may be added here that in total some 9000 candidates appeared for the selection test for STGT organised by the JRBT held in the September 2022 and according to a RTI reply in November last year there were total 5304 vacancy post for STGT teachers.

Around a month ago the High Court of Tripura in its judgement to a review appeal of the state government stood by its earlier ruling asking the state government to maintain the reservation category at the ratio of 51 percent for general, 17 percent for SC and 31 percent for ST and in the recruitment of candidates through the JRBT.
