State Government and Municipal Corporation are working keeping an eye on basic needs of people: Chief Minister

Agartala July 31: Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the present state government is working with a sincere approach to deliver various services to the citizens and fulfill the basic needs of the people. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said this while laying the foundation stone of five projects under Amrut 2.0 for the city of Agartala at the Apanjan Club premises in Bhattapukur on Monday, pipeline drinking water supply to 16,224 households, installation of 31 iron removal plants and 258 km of treated water pipeline projects.

Speaking at the foundation stone ceremony, the Chief Minister said that when the present government was formed, drinking water was reaching only 3 percent of the households in the state. At present, around 64 percent of the households in the state have access to potable water. The government is working to ensure that all the people of the state get drinking water. The present government of the state and the municipal corporation are working keeping an eye on the basic needs of the people. The Chief Minister said that the current state government has paid more attention to improving the quality of life of the people. People can give their advice to the government. The Chief Minister also said that a project called Chief Minister Satellite Scheme has been announced in this year’s budget. A resource of 500 crore rupees has been earmarked for this project for 5 years.

Agartala city and its surrounding areas will be identified as satellite towns. This satellite city has been planned. Solar high mast lighting system will be installed in 19 cities. Necessary funds for construction of new building for Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat have been kept in this year’s budget. Mayor Deepak Majumder of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Councilor Abhijit Mallik, Director of Urban Development Department and others were also present on the occasion.
