Special Searches on Trains Lead to Arrests Ahead of Durga Puja

Agartala: Oct 09: With Durga Puja approaching and in light of recent unrest, special searches have been initiated on trains to ensure safety and security. In one such operation, the Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered 100 rounds of ammunition for a .22 pistol from two individuals during a search of the Deoghar Express at Dharmanagar station. The two suspects, identified as Prasenjit Das and Deepankar Sen, have been arrested.

GRP Officer-in-Charge Uttam Kumar Kalai stated, “Due to Durga Puja approaching and recent unrest, special searches have been initiated on trains. During this special operation, last night, two suspects were arrested from the Deoghar Express at Dharmanagar station. 100 rounds of ammunition for a .22 pistol were recovered from them.”

He further mentioned that the arrested individuals will be produced in the district court today. Kalai emphasized that such checking arrangements have been intensified to ensure security during the festive season.
