Dr. Saha made this appeal while attending a blood donation camp at Naba Angikar Samajik Sanstha, Agartala. He stated that the state government is working with a zero-tolerance policy to build a drug-free Tripura.

He emphasized the need to build social resistance to combat the drug menace.

“It will be possible to build a drug-free Tripura through the united efforts of everyone. Along with this, adequate blood should be stored in the blood banks of the state in proportion to the population,” said Dr. Saha.

At the event, the Chief Minister remarked, “We all know that blood donation is a great act of generosity. There can be nothing better than donating blood. It is also beneficial for one’s health as necessary tests are conducted during blood donation. As a result, any disease in the body can be identified. Additionally, new blood is produced in the body through the process of blood donation. Only through blood donation can the lives of critically ill patients be saved. Considering the total population of the state, 1 percent of blood units need to be stored in blood banks. If there is not enough blood in the hospitals, doctors face challenges in providing services to patients.”

He further urged everyone in society to come forward unitedly to make the state drug-free.

“Social resistance should also be built to combat drug addiction. Such social work improves our mindset. We must remember that we have a responsibility to contribute to society. Only then can we progress,” he added.

The program was attended by Agartala Municipal Corporation Corporator Sampa Sarkar Chowdhury, representatives of the club and other distinguished guests.

The Chief Minister visited the blood donation camp and encouraged the blood donors.
