Shuttle car service from Agartala land port to airport for passengers coming from Bangladesh

Agartala, November 17 : On the occasion of 10 years anniversary of Agartala land port, shuttle car service to Agartala airport has been started for passengers coming from Bangladesh. Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Deepak Majumder launched this service today through a ceremony. Agartala-based Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner Arif Mohammad was present there.

Incidentally, on November 17, 2013, the journey of Agartala-Akhaura, the first land port in the north-eastern region and India’s second land port, started with neighboring Bangladesh. Today it has completed 10 years and entered 11 years. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary, a short ceremony has been organized today at Akhaura Land Port. Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Deepak Majumder was present as chief guest in this event, MLA of Ramnagar area Surjit Dutta, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh Assistant High Commission Arif Mohammad and others were present as special guests.

 

Mayor Deepak Majumder has started the shuttle service from Akhaura border to the airport for the convenience of Bangladeshi passengers in this event today, with the help of which the passengers of Bangladesh can travel to Agartala airport at a very low cost. Besides, BSF jawans organized a blood donation camp on this day

 

On this day, the mayor said 10 years ago, 30,000 people used to travel from Bangladesh to India and from India to Bangladesh and Now about 40 thousand people travel in a month. He claimed that so many people travel through this port because of the improved services.

 

According to him, Tripura’s air service is largely dependent on passengers from Bangladesh. About 50 percent of the passengers are from Bangladesh on every flight. As a result Tripura residents are benefiting commercially and financially.

 

On this day, he also said that for the past 10 years, various services have been introduced by the port to facilitate the Bangladeshi passengers and to improve and strengthen the communication system between the two countries. With the increase in passenger traffic and import-export trade, there has been an improvement in the lives of people working in various sectors associated with the port. Passengers from Bangladesh use this land port every day for medical treatment in different parts of India.

 

On this day, he expressed hope that the decision to beautify the land port and develop multipurpose services and entertainment system including cafeteria for passengers will be implemented.
