Agartala: Mar 03: Based on confidential information, a raid was conducted by the police resulting in the seizure of 21 kg 65 grams of dried cannabis. Two women from outside the state were arrested in connection with the incident. The market value of the seized cannabis is estimated to be over three lakh rupees.
According to OC Tapas Das, the raid was carried out based on intelligence received that smugglers were planning to transport cannabis through Agartala railway station. Following the tip-off, police conducted an operation in the vicinity of the railway station and detained two suspicious women. Upon searching, a total of 21 kg 65 grams of dried cannabis was found in their possession.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sunita Devi (48) and Rita Devi (35), both residents of Bihar. They will be produced in court with a request for police remand.
This seizure marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat drug smuggling in the region.
