Agartala, March 23: The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) has taken its grassroots development experience to the national platform by participating in the National Exhibition-cum-Technical Event under ‘Mission सह-SANKALP’ held at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre. The event brought together policymakers, scientists, and development practitioners to explore how science, technology, and innovation can strengthen sustainable livelihood systems across India.

Organised by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, the programme was inaugurated by Ajay Kumar Sood. It witnessed participation from senior officials representing key central ministries and institutions, including DBT, DST, MSME, MoRD, CSIR, ICAR, and MoPR. The platform enabled states to present their livelihood models while engaging in discussions on scaling innovations nationwide.

Representing Tripura, State Mission Manager (Non-Farm) Sandip Sinha participated as a panelist in a session titled “Pathways for scaling innovations from pilots to nationwide programmes.” In his address, Sinha highlighted the state’s focus on rural enterprise development and stressed the importance of strong institutional frameworks, access to finance, and technology-driven interventions to expand livelihood opportunities.

A key highlight of Tripura’s participation was its emphasis on integrating technology with grassroots realities. Sinha explained that several small-scale pilot initiatives in the state—ranging from non-farm enterprises to skill-based livelihood models—are being designed with scalability in mind. These initiatives aim to ensure that successful models can be replicated across diverse rural and tribal contexts.

Observers noted that TRLM’s presentation brought a valuable perspective to the national dialogue by underlining the need to align innovation strategies with the unique challenges faced by smaller and northeastern states. The state’s approach demonstrated how community-driven and locally adapted solutions can contribute to inclusive growth.

The event concluded with a collective call for stronger collaboration between states, research institutions, and government agencies to transform pilot projects into large-scale programmes. For Tripura, the platform served as an opportunity to reinforce its role in shaping India’s rural development narrative through innovation and community-led initiatives.
