Dharmanagar, Feb 15: A horrific accident unfolded on Wednesday morning at Batarashi Bazar in Dharmanagar, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Saraswati Puja. A cement-laden lorry, bearing the license plate NL 02 L 8328, collided with a scooter marked TR 05 5663. The scooter’s rider, Amita Debnath, of Rajbari, was en route from Dharmanagar to Panisagar when the collision occurred. In a shocking turn of events, the lorry driver, identified as Jayanta Debnath, fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Dharmanagar Fire Brigade personnelrescue of Amita Debnath and send her to Hospital. She was promptly transported to the North Tripura District Hospital in Dharmanagar, the attending doctors, upon assessing her critical condition, recommended further treatment. Notably, Amita Debnath’s husband holds a high-ranking position in the Forest Department. Given the severity of her injuries, she was swiftly transferred to Silchar for urgent medical attention.
The incident has left the local community in shock, and authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. Our thoughts are with Amita Debnath and her family during this difficult time.
