Agartala: Oct 19. The state government has lifted the restrictions imposed on the eateries of Agartala city ahead of the Puja season. A few days back, the Agartala Municipal Corporation had fixed specific time frame for operation of food joints in the city in view of the rapid spike in drug abuse. Speaking exclusively to this reporter, Mayor Dipak Majumder said, “Although no official order is issued, the restrictions will not be in force during Puja. Pandal hoppers stay out in the city for the whole night. At this situation, we can’t impose any restriction on the food joints where people take rest and have food as a part of their enjoyment”. Earlier, the Mayor had chaired a meeting of the AMC council in view of Durga Puja festival. “We are making all out efforts to ensure that Durga Puja is celebrated with great enthusiasm. The Police, AMC and other stakeholder agencies are working in collaboration to make sure that the festive spirit does not get hurt”, he said.
