Agartala March 23: The recovery department of Tripura Grameen Bank took possession of the hotel adjacent to Kalibari Road in Dharmanagar sub-division for not being able to pay the loan on time. Tripura Grameen Bank’s default in repayment of loans has been in legal consultation for a long time. Chayan Bhattacharjee, the manager of the day and night hotel, did not pay any heed to him despite giving notices several times. Finally the case went to Vigilance.
Vigilance decided to take legal action against the Night and Day Hotel if the loan was not paid by March 6. Accordingly, on Thursday, Tripura Grameen Bank’s recovery department seized the hotel day and night in accordance with the 2002 Indian Act, in front of Sanjiv Debnath, the executive magistrate in charge. Officials in charge of the department said that in 2013, 20 million rupees and again 19 million rupees in 2019 remained outstanding. All in all, there is a huge amount of money owed to the hotel, night and day. Tripura Grameen Bank’s recovery committee will start further legal proceedings after taking over the hotel overnight, said the official. It is noted that Chayan Bhattacharjee, the owner of Raat Din Hotel, contested the 2023 Tripura Assembly Elections as the Left Congress nominated candidate from 56 Dharmanagar Assembly constituency.
