Today, an organization had sought permission from the administration to organize a ‘March to Bangladesh’ protest, but the request was denied. In response, two bamboo barricades have been erected in the Akhaura Road area as a precautionary measure.

It’s pertinent to mention that yesterday, a Hindu organization, in protest against the persecution of Hindus and the arrest of Chinmoy Prabhu in Bangladesh, vandalized the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Agartala. The protesters also burnt the Bangladeshi national flag in front of the office. This incident led to widespread tension in the area. The police arrested seven people in connection with the incident last night and have filed a specific case against them.

West Tripura District Superintendent of Police, Kiran Kumar, informed that an organization had sought permission for the ‘March to Bangladesh’ protest today, but the administration had denied it. Hence, as a precautionary measure, two bamboo barricades have been erected in the Akhaura Road area. He further added that seven people have been arrested in connection with yesterday’s vandalism at the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission and will be produced in court today with a remand request. He also indicated that the interrogation of the arrested individuals might reveal the names of more people involved.

Meanwhile, Debashish Nandi, Manager of the Agartala Integrated Checkpost, stated that the import and export between India and Bangladesh are functioning normally.
