Agartala: April 29: Protests under the ‘Save the Constitution Campaign,’ initiated by the Pradesh Congress, are being conducted across Tripura from April 27 to April 30. Today, a rally was organized in front of the Agartala Press Club, proceeding through various city streets before concluding at Netaji Chowmuhani.
The rally witnessed participation from senior Congress leaders, party workers, and supporters. Sudip Roy Barman, a prominent Pradesh Congress leader, played a key role in maintaining order during the rally. He urged participants to remain disciplined and continue their movement peacefully.
Tensions arose near the Income Tax building at Netaji Chowmuhani when protesters attempted to breach police barricades, leading to clashes between Congress workers and the police. To manage the situation, the police reportedly used force.
Congress leaders have accused the current government of undermining democratic principles and the Constitution. They emphasized that the campaign is a response to these concerns and indicated that the protests may intensify in the coming days.
