Agartala: Sept 14: On Saturday, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath reviewed the electricity situation in ten sub-divisions recently taken over from the private company Fedco by the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL). During a video conference held at the TSECL corporate office in Agartala, he spoke with Additional General Managers, Deputy General Managers, and Senior Managers responsible for Mohanpur, Hejhamara, Bamutia, Lefunga, Ambasa, Manu, Chamanu, Gandacherra, Satichandra, and Sabrum.
The minister was briefed by the Additional General Managers about the electricity situation in their respective areas. He emphasized that the transfer of electricity service from Fedco to TSECL was expected to result in improved services for the residents. Fedco was removed due to its negligence and unwillingness to implement public welfare decisions. Minister Nath stressed the importance of TSECL working in accordance with the trust and expectations of the people in these areas.
Officials in charge assured the minister that they are prepared to provide continuous electricity service, with employees actively engaged in fieldwork to ensure no service disruptions. The minister also instructed officials to encourage timely payment of electricity bills and to organize awareness meetings if necessary.
Present at the review meeting were the Chief of the Finance Department of TSECL, Sarbajit Singh Dogra, Additional General Manager Kanak Lal Das, Deputy General Manager Corporate Shishir Debbarma, and other officials.
It was noted that from 11 AM on Friday, September 13, TSECL took over all responsibilities, including customer service, bill payment, and bill collection, from Fedco for the Kamalpur, Gandacherra, and Manu divisions of the Dhalai circle, Mohanpur division under Agartala II circle, and Sabrum division of South Tripura circle. This move followed continuous customer complaints against Fedco. The state government and TSECL aim to improve customer service by taking over these responsibilities. TSECL has appealed to all electricity consumers to avoid any transactions with Feedco and to direct all bill payments and official matters to TSECL.
