Agartala: Mar 14: In the wake of the recent assembly elections, the political landscape in our state has witnessed a significant transformation. A growing segment of the population has expressed disillusionment with certain established political parties. Among them, the Tipra Motha Supremo, once a champion of the dream of Greater Tipraland, now stands at the center of attention.

The Tipra Motha party, founded on the aspirations of tribal communities, had promised to champion the cause of Greater Tipraland. However, after assuming power, the Supremo seemed to have conveniently shelved this crucial agenda. The dream that once ignited hope among the tribals now appears distant and forgotten.

As the Tipra Motha chief transitioned into the main opposition party following the 2023 assembly elections, a new political game unfolded. Pressure politics became the norm, and rumors circulated within political circles. Instead of advocating for Greater Tipraland, whispers suggested that self-interest was at play.

Despite a tripartite agreement involving the Center, the state, and Tipra Motha, there is no explicit reference to Greater Tipraland. Curiously, Tipra Motha joined the government after this agreement. The Supremo, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, underwent a noticeable change in stance. Speculation grew that personal interests were driving this shift.

Enter Kriti Singh Debbarma, the BJP’s candidate for the East Tripura Lok Sabha seat. Who is she? In reality, Kriti Singh Debbarma is the sister of Pradyot Kishore Debbarma. Her marriage ties connect her to Chhattisgarh. Notably, in the 2018 Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, she contested as an independent candidate from the Kawardha constituency but faced rejection, securing fewer than 500 votes.

Now, Kriti Singh Debbarma has been fielded by the BJP for the East Tripura Lok Sabha seat. Her candidature announcement has sparked interest. Accompanied by her brother, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, she arrived in the state on Thursday. The political circles are abuzz with speculation about her role and the BJP’s strategic maneuvering.

As the electoral battle intensifies, all eyes remain fixed on the unfolding drama in Tripura. The intersection of personal ambitions, party dynamics, and regional aspirations promises a riveting political spectacle in the days ahead.
