Police Seize 70,000 Yaba Tablets and Cash in Sonamura Drug Raid

Agartala: Mar 19: In a joint operation conducted by the Sonamura police station and the Border Security Force (BSF), a significant drug bust took place last night. Acting on a tip-off, authorities raided a house in the area, leading to the recovery of approximately 70,000 yaba tablets and a substantial amount of cash. Additionally, a car allegedly used for drug trafficking was seized during the operation.

The targeted house belonged to Idris Mia, a resident of Rabindrapada under the Sonamura police station. According to a police officer, the tip received on the night of March 18, 2024, indicated that Idris Mia was storing a large quantity of drugs. Based on this information, the joint team swiftly conducted the raid, resulting in the seizure of the illicit substances and cash amounting to Rs 1 lakh 34 thousand. The estimated market value of the confiscated drugs stands at approximately Rs 3 crore.

Despite the successful operation, Idris Mia managed to evade arrest during the raid. Authorities have now launched a search operation to apprehend him. This incident marks the largest seizure of yaba tablets in Sonamura in recent years.
