Agartala: April 13: Authorities in Tripura’s North district are investigating a case involving the alleged abduction and assault of a 14-year-old girl on Saturday night. Police have arrested one suspect, while a search is underway to locate a second individual, a minor.
The incident reportedly occurred under the jurisdiction of Kadamtala Police Station as the victim was on her way to a wedding function at a neighboring house. According to police, two individuals—Imran Hossain (35) and a 16-year-old minor—allegedly intercepted the girl, gagged her, and took her to a newly constructed hostel of a nearby Madrasa, where the crime was committed. Both suspects are residents of Ward No. 3 under Kurti Gram Panchayat in the Dheu Bari area.
Locals assisted police in apprehending Imran Hossain, while the minor suspect remains at large. The victim’s mother, who filed a formal complaint, stated that her daughter disclosed the incident upon returning home. She also alleged that the suspects threatened to expose the victim on social media if she spoke out.
Kadamtala Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jayanta Debnath confirmed that a case has been registered under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Preliminary investigations support the allegations, though final confirmation is pending a medical report.
While Imran Hossain is in police custody, efforts are ongoing to apprehend the minor suspect. Authorities have intensified their search operation to ensure justice for the victim.
