Agartala: June 07: Tripura is gearing up for panchayat elections with Lok Sabha elections. However, Tripura’s opposition leader Jitendra Chowdhury has written a letter to the chief secretary saying that efforts are being made to spoil the favorable environment for elections in the state. He alleged that the gangs supported by the ruling party have tried to spoil the favorable environment for the elections. Therefore, he sought the intervention of the Chief Secretary to organize the Panchayat elections in a free, fair and fear-free environment.

Today he wrote in the letter, Panchayat elections are coming in Tripura. But worryingly, the ruling party’s hooligans are already trying to destroy the favorable environment across the state. Several untoward incidents have already taken place in different parts of the state.

He also wrote, yesterday an all-party meeting was called by most of the BDOs to discuss various election agendas. CPM representative in Boxanagar RD block was brutally assaulted in front of BDO chamber and in presence of local MLA. He was also physically assaulted.

Moreover, a similar incident took place in Salema in Dhalai district on May 9. A gang of goons attempted to attack CPI(M) and Congress representatives in Durga Choumuhani Rd block of Dhalai district. Even, on May 20, a similar incident took place in Jirania in West Tripura district. Some BJP workers are trying to spoil the peaceful atmosphere of the election. So he demanded intervention by writing a letter to the Chief Secretary.
