Agartala: Mar 17: Agartala witnessed a significant political gathering on Sunday as the Pristha Pramukh Sammelan convened at the Kumari Tila BT College ground. Organized by the BJP 6 Agartala Mandal, the event drew attention with the presence of Biplab Kumar Deb, the BJP candidate for the West Tripura Lok Sabha seat and former Chief Minister of the state, as the chief speaker.

Addressing the audience, Biplab Kumar Deb emphasized that this election cycle, the 6 Agartala would introduce novel approaches during the Lok Sabha elections. He asserted that the era of political theatrics was over for the 6 Agartala.

While not explicitly naming him, Deb took a veiled jab at Sudip Roy Barman, who had a long association with the Congress. Despite their efforts, the Congress failed to dislodge the communists from Tripura state. It was only through the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah that the communists were ousted from power.

Deb recalled how the political landscape in Tripura underwent a transformation in 2018, thanks to the tireless efforts of BJP party workers, supporters, and common citizens. He also alluded to a curious historical twist: the Congress leadership inadvertently facilitated the communists’ rise to power by “cutting the canal and bringing the crocodiles.”

Clarifying his stance, Deb affirmed that he harbored no personal animosity toward any individual. However, he expressed strong disagreement with the Congress leaders’ ideology.

The BJP, he declared, would champion the interests of all sections of the state’s populace. Furthermore, Deb echoed the sentiment shared by many across the country: the people desire Narendra Modi to continue as Prime Minister, believing that anything is achievable under his leadership.

Besides Biplab Kumar Deb, the sammelan featured the presence of state BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee, the BJP 6 Agartala Mandal president, and other party leaders.

In a noteworthy development, 54 voters from 22 families formally switched allegiances during the sammelan, leaving various parties to join the BJP. The newcomers were warmly welcomed by party leaders, who handed them the BJP flag as a symbol of their new affiliation.
